The
puppies began arriving Friday July 31st at 11:45am. In the next
hour AJ would have 3 little wet, squirmy ones all doing very
well. The next 3 pups came in the following 2 hours and AJ took a
bit of a break before having number 7 at 5:00pm.
2 girls
- one is a tri.5 boys - 2 tri.
AJ didn't seem to have any challenges with the delivery. I think I saw maybe 4 total contractions the entire 5 hours. She began taking care of them all right away and by day 3 it all seemed as if she had done this a million times.
I was struck by just how amazing nature is and the instinct that is just below the surface and waiting to be shown. Lad watched the birthing from a respectful distance, he has always loved puppies. He continues to check in on them as much as AJ will allow and is right there if they make "too much noise" - or for a photo op.

The
pups are growing like weeds and
are tons of fun. They are all enjoying going outside during the
day
and having lots to explore. They are now 4 weeks old, play and
growl
with each other, are playing with toys and coming when they are
called. They are also asking to outside at night when they are
crated
which is great except it tends to be between 3 and 4 am.
I can't believe how confident these pups are. They have enjoyed all the attention from folks at the Kevin Evans and Aled Owen clinics. All the pups watched the goings on from their puppy pen and are sure they should have been out there helping Aled.
